Bethlehem House - A Respite for Women in Transition

The underserved population of employed homeless women in the Tri-County area who works along side of us everyday and reside in shelters, with relatives or wherever they can until their welcome has worn thin.

They are overlooked because they don't have young children in tow. They're misplaced because they do not have substance abuse issues. They're denied immediate government assistance because their income exceeds the maximum requirement.

Many shelter programs have cut-off times of 5:00pm and if the resident is in transit, they'll most likely lose their bed. A 30-day program is not ample time for individuals to make a morally correct transition.

Bethlehem House is a community based organization that provides a three to six month "Home" program designed to restore a woman's dignity and a chance to regain her focus. Bethlehem House offers the comforts of a "home environment" and the individual has the privileges of being a house guest.

Bethlehem House is committed to the spiritual and emotional well-being of women in transition.

We offer a clean, safe, environment in a privately owned and operated home. We are located near all major public transporation. For a minimal fee of $55.00 per week we provide the following:

Single and shared bedrooms
Money Management
Life Skills Training
Counseling/Life Coaching
Legal referrals
Medical referrals
Laundry facilities
Individual meal preparation

The home is located on the East-side of Detroit near Gratiot and Warren avenues and is easily accessible to public transportation.
